OUR STORY
A tournament player built the set he couldn't find
Galen Pyle found chess at twelve and has played it in thirty countries since. Across hundreds of sets he never found one that was durable, portable and good looking at the same time, so he designed his own: classic Staunton pieces, modern materials and a strategy guide, for tournament players, travelers and beginners alike.

The set he could not find
Hundreds of sets later, none was durable, portable and good looking at once. So he came home and built the one that was.

United StatesNice sets
I purchased the 4x and the 3x. Both are unique in the tournament category of sets. They will stand out in a tournament. The 4x is great all around. Nice, heavy, big pieces. Knight is a great design. No complaints. The 3x is nice, but feels a little light for three times the weight. Also, on the 3x set the king base is 2mm smaller diameter than the queen’s. Once you see it you can’t unsee it and it’s bothersome. Both boards had issues as well. One was warped and would not lay flat. The other seems to have a blueish tint on the white squares like maybe the black dye ran.

It Lives Up to the "Best Chess Set Ever" Name
The name truly lives up to its reputation. The pieces and the board are exceptional. I’m confident enough in this chess set to wholeheartedly recommend it to my friends. The only hitch in an otherwise perfect experience was with the shipping and delivery. Instead of arriving in a protective shipping box, it was delivered in the original box with the label slapped on it. As a result, the box took a beating during transit, and the shipping label didn’t come off cleanly. While the chess set itself is fantastic, the box’s appearance took a hit due to the delivery process.

5 Star Value, 5 Star Service
Initially, I received the XL version, and despite being surprised by the larger pieces, I decided not to go through the hassle of returning it. The warranty support was excellent and offered to send me the standard edition without requiring me to return the product. The pieces, although different from what I expected, turned out to be quite resilient. Even after an accidental drop by a toddler, the extra queen held up well. The silicone board is unique and collects debris and hair easily, but cleaning it was relatively simple. The slight creases in the board, despite not being completely fixed, don't bother me much. The pieces, especially in the XL edition, are robust and have a velvet bottom, making them easy to store without worry. Packing and unpacking this set is a breeze, and its durability stands out. Overall, this set offers fantastic value, and the excellent customer service assured me of a 5-star review. The one-year warranty further instills confidence in the product's durability. If you're eyeing the Best Chess Set Ever, this aspect might be worth considering.
