What size is the board? Some say the board is too large.

The chess board is the official regulation size for tournament chess, which is 20 inches by 20 inches. Each square is 2.25 inches. We believe the chess board is the perfect size for game play, fits the pieces well, and the board is portable for travel as well.

From the pictures it looks like the quadruple weighted queen crown is more pointy and the triple not so, is that right?

Yes, you are correct! In the Best Chess Set Ever, we sell the triple weighted chess pieces (Staunton no. 6) which have a rounded Queen's coronet. In the Best Chess Set Ever XL, we sell the quadruple weighted chess pieces (Staunton no. 8) which have a pointy Queen's crown.

How many points on the Queens crown and on top of the rook?

There are 12 points on the queen coronet and 4 sections on the rook. Please note that the queen's coronet is rounded and not pointy on this triple weighted chess set.

Does this set come with a carry case?

The set does not include a quiver bag. We designed the modern game box to fit easily into a backpack or satchel. The Best Chess Set Ever is easy to pack and carry.

Is the board made out of silicone?

Yes, the chess board is made out of silicone. The dimensions are 20 inches by 20 inches and each square is 2.25 inches (World Chess Federation official regulation size). We have upgraded from vinyl to the superior silicone chess board.

Does it come with an extra queen?

Yes! The chess set includes four total queens — 1 bonus queen of white color and 1 bonus queen of black color. The extra queens are for pawn promotion when a pawn reaches the 8th rank.
